Resizing pc based controller memory??

I was just wondering if it is possible to resize the memory allocation for the nc files. the hard drive has 2 gig available space, and I will not hold a 4mb program. The controller is a 640m Fusion (Mazak PFH4800). I know I can run it from the hard drive, but it would be alot easier to run directly on the control.

There's probably parameters set up in the conrol that only allow a certain amount memory to be used for active programs and it's probably not something you can just change.

I am pretty sure you can't. We wanted to do that on our Variaxis' and was told it wasn't possible. That was while they were under warranty though....

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. I dont really understand why so little space would be allocated for nc files. Does anyone know if there is a add-on for more space?

Just got a e-mail from our Mazak dealer. Looks like it cannot be resized .

On the Variaxis what do you normally do with large files? run from hd? or trickle feed from a laptop?

We run them from the HD. All of our machines are on the company network, so we just transfer files straight into them.

How are you getting your programs in right now? I just use the network (need pcm/cia option on the controller and add a network card) to put in the folder MazatrolMC_Direct Mode Programs. you have to change the tape mode default to look there. load program on the hard drive, hit tape, program #,cycle start.

Cam, I am using a compact flash card with a card adaptor to transfer the programs, I will look into picking up a network adaptor on mon. do you run all your programs from the hd?? I usually use the program file directory, unless the file is to large to fit, then I will use the hard drive for large files. thanks for the help.
