O/T Helicoil Roll Tap Drill Chart

Hey Everybody,

 

Anyone know where I can find a tap drill chart for helicoil taps? I have the big MSC decimal equivalent poster w/standard tap & drill info. What I'm looking for is a drill chart that provides sizes for helicoil inserts. I'm not even sure if there is one but any info would be appreciated. TIA

Try the Balax website. They have tap drill sizes for STI cut taps and roll taps [they call them Thredfloers or something] in their catalog, which can be viewed online. If you are just looking for cut taps you can go to the Emhart website and they have all of the Helicoil tech info available online as well

There is also a .exe file on the FTP called heliexe.exe or something like that...it's very extensive and has any info you could possibly want.

Thanks for the info about the Balax site. I had browsed that site a couple of weeks ago but maybe I didn't look close enough. Are you back at work? Good to hear although I hope you don't push it too much. This is Peter, formerly of S4A fame.

if yer talkin about 'Heli-Coil' brand, I seem to remember that they have their own custom taps which require a different tap drill.

Methinks they give you the info on the hole size and tap required on the packaging of the inserts you buy. ( for a 4-48 thread , I seem to remember that the tap was a helicoil custom #3FPB

Hey Peter; I forgot that was your new handle. I've been back at work for about a month, fun sh!t.

 

I know Balax has the info because I was just looking up the specs for a 10-32 STI form tap yesterday. If you go to "view catalog" on the site the STI roll-tap pages are listed on the table of contents under "technical information"

I downloaded the "heliexe" EXE file to my desktop. What does it do exactly? I don't want to install anything without having some knowledge of what to expect. The IT people get nervous with new software.

It's Helicoil's own entire catalog, allows you to scroll through sizes and sort.

It's kinda like an extravagant word document (kinda) lol
