Mill Turn Y offset

Can MC do this?

If I use a 50mm dia X R5.0 cutter to mill turn how can I get the tool to have a 20mm offset in the Y?

I want the centre of the insert on the centre line of the part not the centre of the spindle.

Now I could put a Y offset in the machine for that tool. But if I want to work from each end of the part to the centre I would need two Y offsets one + and one -.

Can I set the amount of Y offset in MC for Mill turning?

Thanks in advance cheers.gif

I used to do this all the time in V9 mill/ turn

It been years since I programmed a mill/turn that had a Y axis, but I'm sure MC can still do it.

You probably need to add a Y axis to your X4 mill/turn machine def

Machine def has Y axis.

The spindle centre is always on the centre line of the rotary axis (chuck)

I want the spindle centre to be Y-20mm as it cuts with the C axis rotating.

code:

 Y0. C-107.057 F531.1

C-105.938

C-104.819

C-103.7

C-102.581

C-101.462

C-100.344

C-99.225

C-98.107

C-96.989

I want the Y to be Y-20.

G-code I'm using 5-axis multi surface toolpath, on a multi tasking machine.

Please look at the pic below it might explain what I'm trying to do better.

See the the view from the right side see the spinlde is on the centreline of rotation as the C-axis rotates. I want the tool off the centre line. So the line perpendicular to the centre of rotation is not through the centre of spindle but 20mm offset.
