mcam did you get that converted?
-
also make sure to clear you registry and mcam can rebuild it.
-
Hardmill, once you get use to it it is pretty quick, we save tool librarys, we have 6 basic seed model then import the fixture, stock, and nc programs and off you go.
1 thing that takes time is the stock flip on a 5 axis part the alignment can be a bit tricky.
we verify every job and it works great!

do you have your parameters set corectlly?
there are 2 types of wear and length comp plus there is a really nasty little parameter which sounds like your problem it says something about return through position, I can look it up tonight when I get home I have several highlighted in my parameter manuals. When I use to set up these machines I would change several before the customer received it for this reason.

Yes I have every tombstone modeled exactly and verified with probe, vices, fixturing should be as close as possible. I program everything from center rotation Y top of pallet. horizontal programming really isnt much more diffrent then vertical except you need to plan ahead for multiple positions, reduce rotations, I use a work coordinate for each position in case there is a little tweaking needed (mostly just second op though I use to use technigrips for the first op alot so I didnt really worry about that since it is raw stock being machined in the first hold it is relative to itself.

What kind of machine, how many pallets, what year, what control. you can monitor almost all machines with the right software. Ron is talking about dedicated tooling I beleive! 150 tool magazine should get you close may have to change out specials now and then. you will have to look at your roughing tools especialy since they will be the most common backup tool needed. you need to consider tool holder lengths and stickout, you may have to sacrifice rigidity for a more universal tool. look at the work you plan on running in the machine and try to match tools accordingly.

I have not noticed a problem with this at all and we use it daily, is there a specific problem, are you using solid, surface, nurbs or parametric splines, vector lines.
just looking for more detail so I can try it

+1000 Mark H pretty easy way!

good to know I thought it was just BT, Thanks for the info
-
oh and isnt a big plus actually a BT and not a CAT
-
I would think the gauge line would be diffrent big plus is a double face contact I would think you could check this with an indicator, measure your tool, put it in the spindle, MDI to a specific z height off the table with length comp active and measure it from the table and see if it is correct and if not you will see the diffrence and can adjust for that.
-
you will ruin the spindle if you do that. It has to be reground and blued to check for contact, is this CAT, BT, etc.
you would be better off hand working it with a stone and craytex.
A spindle grind is much cheaper than a new spindle.
-
if you click all off, it is going to turn them all off except the main level, then your selecting a new main so the old main is still checked!
select the level you want to go to then click all off it will ssave you a step anyway
-
Iwould think the mazak could do it talk to your dealer and tell them what you are trying to do.
Probably the best lathe would be an index (I think they are german)search for index lathes!
there was a customer in oregon using them and I know they swore bye them.

Tim we use full 5 axis everyday here, very little multi face work. I think our post is old but it does a pretty good job for our work. I wish it had a little more built into it for pre positioning the head we have to use a misc intgr to align to prevent unwind.

thanks, just got signed up
-
Does anyone have the contact info and date for this I seen it on here before but can't seem to find it.
-
I have used hsm core roughing and surface finishing ops on very large parts I have never had to wait 4 plus hours, it could be that something is not set right (one of those little parameters) and it is trying to resolve the toolpath anyway.
learn to play with the software and options and not to fight with it and you will be pleased!

isnt there a check box for single row?
and if that doesnt work how about surface blend
-
Thanks Pete

we have the converter, but when we bring it in it is making the points change from a standard point to the one selected bye the mcam attributes which is set to square. Is there some setting to make it just bring the points in as standard points?
-
dang I just cant remember off the top of my head then, I am sure you can trical feed though.
Did you call the Mori applications department they should be able to tell you right away.
Oh just remembered, do you use the MAPP to send to that machine are NV5000 had some special com software
-
no it is right on the panel
ok you know where your manual mode button is?
then edit mode, memory mode, tape mode is right by it.
you will need to have your communications screen set to rs232 instead of card though
-
it is a soft touch key write next to memory mode

Any one here in the forum using catia and know it well it is V5
when you are in the sketcher
X plus is to the right
Y plus is up looking from the top view
(which is normal)
Now when you switch to part design to make the solid
it flips the view
Y plus is to the right
x plus is facing down
is there a way to fix this?
