  1. great thread i have been using peel mill and core mill with great results looks i need to play with this dynamic mill a bit the key is from what i have found out is to use a coated tool and get the HEAT in the chip i use air on steels and tsc coolant on alum i use the high speed look ahead (G5 P10000) on those toolpaths so the machine dont jerk around so here is some of my numbers i have been throwing at the machines using a coated 3/4 varimill with a 30hp spindle A2/4140 500sfm 1.0 doc 20% stepover 105ipm D2 500sfm 2.0 doc 5% stepover 83ipm AL 10000rpm (max rpm) 25% stepover 465ipm and i know i could get more out of it like colin said you have to dial the tool in at the machine look at the spindle load and axis loads to see how the tool and machine is performing you will know when its happy, a nice shower of blue chips, part and tool are not hot
  2. here is a thread that might help you PEEL MILL
  3. i have all my tools setup for X style coolant and it dont always stick.....yours does? quote: r&d the easiest way to set that up is have your coolant "defaults" set with your tool and change coolant settings to "from tool" and have the tools set for "with" then when you use that tool your coolant is set just a side note that you will still have to re-pick the coolant option using X style coolant in the operations parameters page its a bug and it has been logged r&d so this is how you will have to set it up
  4. this might help with the toolpath side of it LINKY
  5. colin were you using G5 P10000?

  8. create rectangle with rads HTH
  9. as you see in the pic to the right there is a file cabinet icon click ops then click the file cabinet icon and browse out to where you want to get files from HTH
  10. yes you asked right in the CD is where you change that location
  11. did you have the machine you want to change the defaults on active in MC? pick a default machine you dont use then try changing the settings
  12. yes in the control def you can set it where the folder is
  13. for the parts i do having all my ops set to 1 coolant option wouldnt work so maybe thats CNCs way of thinking about it i dont know just guessing quote: Go into the operation defaults in the master control defintion and select all the operations. Then right click and edit common parameters. Then go to the coolant option and set it to the one you want the most and then it will change all the operations. I have some set-up for hard metal that are always air blast and others set-up for just coolant that always comes at after. did you save the defaults and reload the MD you have to hit the save default setting button first then the disk icon or the changes will not stick HTH
  14. r&d the easiest way to set that up is have your coolant "defaults" set with your tool and change coolant settings to "from tool" and have the tools set for "with" then when you use that tool your coolant is set just a side note that you will still have to re-pick the coolant option using X style coolant in the operations parameters page its a bug and it has been logged HTH
