  1. Thanks! my SWAG was .0007"....so pretty close!
  2. On occasion we find a need to make our own homebrewed heat shrink adapters. Today we have that need.... I used to have a chart that had the recommended bore sizes but I will be damned if I can find it. Does anyone out there have a 5/16 holder they can measure the bore size on? We use H-13 for the material, which I gather is the industry standard. Thanks!
  3. change "pwcs" to "*pwcs" (add the asterisk before the pwcs). this forces the post to output.
  4. wow. We have all heard of "armchair quarterbacks". Now we have a "YouTube machinist". LMAO
  5. You haven't been in this trade long have you? How did you learn your skills?
  6. Good luck with that.....with that mentality you are going to be doing the same thing for the rest of your life. The best way to advance is to teach someone what you already know so you will be able to further yourself.
  7. the only thing I have done in the past was organize by material....ie wine rack 1 & 2 are for titanium...3&4 aluminum...ect. 240 tools is not enough. 400+ then we are talking
  8. HSK & KM are two different animals.....so no they will not interchange. KM is Kennametals baby.....so if they don't have what you are looking for, you are likely going down the custom route. Surprised that they don't offer ER stuff tho.....
  9. I just went thru this with an older f@gor. check page 206 of this manual http://www.xxxxorautomation.co.kr/pub/kor/pdf/manuales/CNC/8055/man_8055_inst.pdf
  10. Over in the "new" forum there are a bunch of videos http://forum.mastercam.com/Topic974.aspx
  11. I found that this is machine/controller dependent. it works on some of our machines...not on others. Most machines we have the G68 does not work while in MPG mode. Works fine when running a program tho.
  12. Weight, as mention before, is a huge issue. Our matsuura 405 is rated at 880lbs. A cast iron T column weighs almost that much alone. These are very rigid and MUCH lighter. (no particular brand loyalty to Kurt...just an example)
  13. The m-code placement is a matter of personal preference. I know that on our machines, the augers kick on as soon as the spindle is on. No m codes necessary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Its pretty easy....see attached screenshot
  15. As much as I hate using non "off the shelf" tooling sometimes it's the nature of the beast. At least in 7075 you can expect decent life. Custom tools in Ti or 15-5....yikes on having to stock customs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I saw this tons at my last gig.....we even just expected it. At first we did what you first suggest, run your high performance 130 deg drill to depth then chase it with a 120 deg point. That made our tooling packages much larger than it need to be, so we had the crib modify the drill points to 120 deg. This worked better than expected. We did have to spot drill the holes first tho. Material was 7050 alum. Our typical tool package for finishing a large manifold could run well over 200 tools...so i can relate on trying to minimize your package.
  17. The 800 is the same as the 630 with a larger pallet, no? The 630 is a way fun machine. Wish Matts made a 1250 class machine......
  18. Magnets work good. on some we have stops you slide the material up to then turn the magnet on. when roughing make your cut direction go toward the stops....magnets do have crazy holding power as long as your material is thick enough. Chips wind up being a PITA tho, especially in pockets, even on a horizontal.
  19. Thats one thing I don't ever do in Camplete for a finished product. I want my CAM file to match what is in Camplete as close as possible. Now i have done it in Camplete for testing purposes, then gone back to the cam system to match what I did. Same with re-ordering operations...it can be done in Camplete, tho, once again, I like the CAM file to match what the output is going to be. Now I am on a older version of Camplete, it does simulate material removal, albeit at a slow speed. There is no "autodiff" function like vericut (maybe new versions, but not the one I am on). It does gouge check against the part. The posting is flawless and things like feedrate leveling and toolpath linerization (if you aren't using RTCP) are awesome tools.
  20. We use them all the time. Cogsdill. Best off talking to them to get the pre-burnish hole size and finish requirements. You will be amazed that the finish you get and the longevity of the tool. We run with just water soluble and have yet to run into a problem. Your process is gonna most likely look like this tho.... Drill Ream Burnish Gonna have an extra toolchange....but if it makes the process better and more reliable...then its worth it.
  21. Here is one that I have for an I-80 control....and it *should* be almost a direct plug in for a Fanuc... O9601(PALLET A TIMER) (INSERT #3001=0 AT BEGINNING OF MAIN PROG) (#550=TOTAL TIME COUNTER-SECONDS); (MANUALLY RESET TO ZERO WHEN DESIRED); (#553=ACCUMULATED HOURS); (#554=ACCUMULATED MINUTES); (#555=ACCUMULATED SECONDS); #552 = #0 #556 = #0 #550 = #550 + #3001 / 1000 (TOTAL SECONDS) #103 = #550 / 3600 (DECIMAL HRS) #553 = FIX[#103] (STORE HRS ONLY) #104 = [#103 - FIX[#103]]*60 (DECIMAL MINUTES) #554 = FIX[#104] (STORE MINS ONLY) #105 = [#104 - FIX[#104]]*60 (DECIMAL SECONDS) #555 = ROUND[#105] (STORE SECS ONLY) M99
  22. ahhhh...I think I get it. Like in this example? CRASH TEST.MCX-7
