  1. quote: from the November 2005 Mastercam Newsflash What's Coming in MR1 Mastercam X MR1 is the first Maintenance release for Mastercam X. It includes both bug fixes and new functionality. This release will go to all customers in the Maintenance program. The anticipated release date is December 16. The functional scope of MR1 includes the release of an additional X product – Mastercam Wire. It also includes Mastercam Router enhancements (Door C-Hook and ATP), 2D Mill multi-pass threading, 3D Mill highspeed toolpaths, surface modeling enhancements, and overall bug fixes. Online help and PDF documentation will be provided for Wire and the new surface toolpaths, so don’t forget to check it out. For more information, please visit www.mastercam.com or contact your local Mastercam Reseller. yes...I am sorry...but there is TONS of info about SP2 in that newletter. quote: death to CNC Software might be a little out of line I think you have misinterpreted my post. Benign critcal of a company is NOT calling for the death of them. You should hear what I got to say about Micro$oft.....
  2. Looks pretty trick Roger...gonna play with that in the morning
  3. quote: Mastercam X MR1 is the first Maintenance release for Mastercam X. It includes both bug fixes and new functionality. This release will go to all customers in the Maintenance program. This is a huge issue with me. Bug fixes have no business being in a maintenance release. Come out with service packs to fix bugs...why is CNC alienating those who are not on maintenance? I understand wanting to make $$$ (which in turn helps development) via a maintenance program, but forcing people into by fixing their mistakes (software bugs) is not a honorable way to practice business. Added fuctionality is a whole other story...Getting something new & better is worth paying for...paying fees to fix CNC's mistakes is As far as other cad/cam packages are concerened...All mastercam users should encourage other companies to innovate & seek out other options. This in turn forces CNC to keep on their toes & not rest on their laurels. Competition keeps prices down & the product better. I know that CNC did make quite a few users (including myself) pretty upset with the whole X release fiasco. 2 years behind schedule is crazy. Now maintenance releases are being delayed (1 month and counting). Makes me wonder how many users have to renew their plan to get something that was supposed to be released last month. CNC could really do themselves a favor & keep quiet about things till they are 100% sure on a release date.
  4. checking out the macro stuff now.... The machine is a Matsuura V-MAX 800 5AX with a Siemens 840DI control
  5. hey all...I would like to create a custom drill cycle that would be a incremental cycle...or another way of putting it would be I want a custom cycle that will do the same thing as a peck drill cycle only without the canned cycle (the code would look like it does when you turn usecanpeck to off) this would be way handy...I am drilling some deep holes...using a stub drill for the first bit then a longer drill for the rest. With a "incremental" cycle you put can all the parameters in mastercam & it posts the code out long hand...1st peck being 2.00 & the rest being .1 (or whatever) hope someone can follow all that. Thanks in advance!
  6. quote: Having the selection stick would virtually disable autocursor all together. The only thing the cursor would snap to at any given time would be what is selected in the override. Now *that* would suck!I actually used this all the time in 9...say when doing a drilling cycle...disable the autocursor & pick point or arc center...enable the autocursor when you are done. So yes...I would like to have the option of the selection "sticking"
  7. This is my biggest frustration with X. In V9 I commonly used create point position midpoint..or endpoint. Or create line vertical center...or midpoint. Basically one could override the autocursor by telling Mcam where you wanted the geometry you create to start (or end). Now in X, you go to create a line...you must SLOWLY drag the cursor over your geometry and look for the tiny autocursor to highlight whatever posistion (midpoint, endpoint, ect) you want to create the geometry at. This becomes a royal pain if you have a few lines sharing the same space. So...how do I do this in X similar to how it was done in 9...
  8. guess the topic says it all...I used this c-hook alot in 9....is it out there for X or is it already there & one of those things I have not found yet? Thanks
  9. this is a pain especially when mirroring a toolpath(s). If you have multile chains in a operation, it woks fine (ie, it changes sides for you automatically), however, it you have an op with 1 chain (this happens alot) and you reverse the chain, it DOES NOT change side. Having this option saves the time & hassle of re-chaining something. So yes...would be nice to have the V9 option.
  10. quote: I'm not saying that *you* should use IJK. I'm saying that Mpmaster.control (the control def for mpmaster) is set that way, so you shouldn't be seeing R values if all is installed correctly, and up-to-date, and you haven't messed with the control def. What is the reason you are using IJK? Like I said above, I prefer the cleaner look & the shorter program the R value generates. In my example above, the control def is set up to use R values, yet when posting it does R on 2d arcs and IJK on 3D arc (helix bore, ect)Contol is also set up to break at quadrants.
  11. VX SP1 update 3 Can anyone tell me if this is done on purpose or am I doing something wrong. When going around a arc in a 2d plane (say X & Y) this post uses a R value to define the radius. However, when doing a #D arc (helix bore) the posts spits out I & J values (have not tried doing a helical arc on a XZ or YZ plane, but I assume it would use I & K or J&K). is it just me? I much prefer the cleaner (and shorter) program that the R value generates.
  12. This macro worked great...About an hour of editing & I was making numbers.
  13. wow that was fast...Thanks a bunch. Looks very cool!
  14. Oh you gotta love customers. We recently ran 500 parts & we got the call from the customer saying he wants each parts with a serial number engraved on it. I am not really looking forward to doing 500 toolpaths, 500 program sends, ect. I am thinking there has got to be a way to do this on a control...it is a Yasnac I80 on a matsuura machining center. I guess Haas does this automatically....one fo the few times I wish I had a Haas around... Any ideas on how to do this?? Thanks
  15. this one has been bugging me also...thanks for the tips
  16. Same problem with deleting the views I create. The option is grayed out.
  17. ^^^^ A public list would be a good idea. I still hate the "work around" phrase.....if something does not work the its supposed to....its a BUG.
  18. Obviously X is far from perfect. After going through these forums it is more than apparant that not all issues are user related. Why is CNC Software so hesitant to publish known issues? This would save a ton of time for people...looking at a organized list is much faster than searching through a very active forum. This would also save forum space to help people with user issues....not software bugs. I also feel the phrase "work around" is a cop-out. Its like saying "it kinda works".
  19. my guess is that you are picking a solid. I have the same issue. Create a point or edge curve & pick that. Not much of a fix......
  20. just seeing if anyone else is having a problem with this. I can shade a solid just fine with this (outline shading, basically shows edge curves on a shaded part) but when I turn shading off, only the visible curves are left...ie when I dynamically rotate the part to the bottom, the edges of the solid are GONE.
  21. Yes...this is one I found also...Solid drilling does not work.(feedrate of zero) had to create points insead of picking center of the hole
  22. I decided to go ahead and modify the "generic 4 axis" post rather than updating to take advantage of some of the new features and to help me in doing some housecleaning that had to be done with the old post that I have been using. Not much really had to be done, but as always, I want to change a few things that are bugging me. 1 - Outputting the machine name. I like this feature, but I hate how it puts it after EVERY toolchange. I know that it is controlled by the pcomment2 line...but I cannot simply comment this out after every toolchange because that would mess with my manual entry comments (operation comments too) I would just like this to be output in the header only. 2 - Also in the header, I would like to have it say if the program uses rigid tapping or not. Tough thing here is I don't want it to say anything if there is no tap in the program. Thanks!!!
  23. ok...where do I find the "accept" button to add to my right click menu?? I have looked everywhere, but I am missing the obvious again.....
