  1. is there any way to map my righ mouse button to no drop down menu...but just to have it as accept?? ( ala CadKey). I get tired of draggin my mouse up to the check mark every time I do something......
  2. quote: To make it work, you have to clcik the import button on the far left.caught that before you mentioned it...funny thing is....the import screen minimizes like its doing something, but no operations come up. Tried all the options ( import gemoetry with operations ), just like the link I pointed to....still no go
  3. after following these instructions MANY times... http://www.mastercam.com/Support/TechTips/...n--from-mcx.htm No operations come up. The tools pull up fine, but no operations
  4. quote: You do not have to open the level manager to use a new level, you can just type in the level you want to "create" or make active. The level manager only has to be used for adding a descriptor or manipulating more than one level at a time.this DOES NOT work on mine. I cannot type ANYTHING in this field, not even level 1. I can create & name levels all day long in the levels manager, but that drop down box is totally useless for me....I can switch to level 1 with it,(via the drop down, not by typing) but no matter how many levels I define/name...All I can choose is level 1 (sometimes it comes up with level zero tho) bug maybe (definatly)?????
  5. seems like alot of the learning curve in X is finding out where these features are laid out. Thanks for the help.
  6. I am not sure I am liking the preselect feature on X...at least the way i am using it. I know that many times I must rotate a part on 2 different construction planes...or rotate and then translate to get the geometry the way I need it. Is there any way to xform a group or a result??? Also, my levels button is broke/not working properly. On the levels manager I can create levels all day long ( not sure of the need for 2 billion levels, but thats a different story ). The problem I am running into is when I exit the levels manager and use the drop down button to change levels...all it ever shows is level 1. I also cannot type a level number in this field. To change levels other than level 1 I must go into the levels manager...but I can change back to level 1 via the drop down box.... anyone else seeing this????
  7. I am probabally missing something easy here...but how do I import just the tools (not operations) from another .mcx file? I have found the import operations...but this is not what I am looking for. Thanks
  8. I have been playing with the new posts that come with X...little different format, but still close enough to the old format so its not that big of a transition. Is there any advantage to going through one of the new posts that ship with X vs just updating one that has been around since 8? (currently we use a version that shipped with 8, updated to 9, luckly one post pretty much does most of our machines). This is just a 3 axis post. The 5 axis post...same question. Any advantage of using the new one vs updating the old. This one I am more hesitant to dig into...I have alot of time into the V9 post.
  9. wow...sometimes things just stare me in the face and I miss it...good thing I am not at a strip club
  10. I have been playing around with the Control Definition stuff...and now when I post I get this error... quote: ERROR - WRITE NC OPERATION INFORMATION MUST BE ENABLED IN CONTROL DEFINITION - SET AND REPOSTI have looked high & low for this in the control definition, and have yet to find it. How do I get rid of this??? Also, for whatever reason, I am getting no spaces between blocks after I post...makes the program tough to read. I can't find this switch either. Thanks!! [edit] I do find a switch that says "Output operation comments to NC" and it is CHECKED...so I shouldn't be coming up with this???? [/edit]
  11. heeler, Works great & Very slick. Does slow it down a bit, but I am getting a MUCH cleaner looking verify. Thanks!!
  12. I am running into a problem with verify leaving LARGE facets on a part...I am using a 4" dia wheel style cutter to cut a 1" diameter (basically the part is round with a square plate on the top & bottom of the part, hence the wheel cutter). The problem I run into is when I tilt the part (5 axis) to do other features with a smaller cutter (3/16 ball) it looks like it is gouging the part or not cutting the part (high spots & low spots with the facets). I am using the highest quality setting in verigy. Are there any settings to correct this (make the facets smaller)?? Thanks
  13. teh damn .PSB file is going to keep me from doing this...seems that all the ptlchg1002 & pmx0 calls are locked up....and in order to map things correctly...these need to be modified.
  14. I am hoping to work on a modification for the mpgen5x post to get it to post out vectors to control the tool axis. This is for a Siemens 840DI control. I need the vector output in order for 3d comp to be used (the siemens command is TRAORI). The vectors are output as A3, B3, C3. guess I am wondering if mpgen5x will support this kind of output. Thanks!
  15. Damn...I even got this thing. My guess is that less than a day after CNC releases X, a cracked version will be available...this guy is just looking to be the first to crack it.
  16. This works much better than the older version I got off the FTP. On the older version, it would create surfaces over a whole solid on level 255. This new version, you create a surface ( cylinder ) only where you want/need it. Thanks a bunch, big timesaver
  17. Haas are not bad...as long as you get rid of them after 3 years of med/heavy use. They are just not built as well as some of the higher end machines.
  18. hmmmm...just thinking bout this is scary....imagine Mastercam ( or any other app ) crashing while you were running the machine....
  19. There was a time when I would put the blame on ATI, but no longer. ATI's products are now well proven in the cad industry, Solidworks works great on a ATI card, along with many other packages. What Mastercam could/should do is start certifing hardware (much like Solidworks does) in order for users to get max. performance. The most you can find for Mastercam is some very dated (sept 2k3) "recommened hardware" lists. Side note...I have found that mastercam can be very picky bout the video driver that you use, nVidia or not.
  20. Beaucoup horsepower is a must for these...specially when you get up to the 3" models. Running a 3" Mitsu AJX in 440C, .075 deep, .075/ tooth (5 teeth on the cutter, 3/8" per revolution) took all of 75HP that we had available...but it was way cool to see a roost of chips coming off the part like you typically see in aluminum. I tried the 3" cutter on a 40 taper w/ 30HP...no chance, even with a .030 depth of cut & a much lighter feed.
  21. TRY NOT TO YELL then look in the misc values in your post. If you are using MPGEN5ax, then try changing the values of misc integer 4 or 5 (most likely it is set to zero now, which means off, not zero degrees) and change it to 270
  22. when using the PCMCIA slot on these machines (Mori), no file extension is allowed. Unless I am mistaken, the file name must be the same as the program number...only when using the card tho. When sending via RS232, "conventional" format (.nc extension, different file name from prog #) it works fine. I am sure there is no way around this....the Mori rep said "no extensions allowed"... good luck
  23. hey all, this one is a matter of me being picky, but hey...you want things to look the way you want... anyways, all of my posts here have been modified to have a rigid tapping cycle. They all work just fine...but the thing I don't like is the spindle turning on when it moves to the first position..as in G90 G54 G0 X5. y-3. S1000 M3 in a rigid tapping cycle, there is no need for the spindle to turn on till its ready to do the hole...as a matter of fact, if the spindle is on before the hole, the spindle must stop to orient itself...a waste of time. So...I would like to get rid of the speed callout just when using a rigid tap cycle. (the posts are mpfan & mpgen5ax) My next one is dealing with thru spindle coolant. One of our machines won't let you turn the spindle coolant on if the spindle is turning. So, when using spindle coolant, I have to edit out the speed command on the 1st positioning move and then add it back in after the coolant is turned on (M50). I can change the post so that the coolant is turned on before the speed command on all cycles, but I would prefer that it would only turn on before the speed command just when I am usign thru coolant... hope ya all can follow all that Thanks!
